Kurotori Forging Factory

In the early Meiji period, the first-generation Heiji Kajiwara moved from Kurotori Village in Aki District, Tosa, to Hondo in present-day Shimanto Town, where he founded a forging workshop.

For more than 130 years since then, the Kajiwara family has continued its work as a rural blacksmith rooted in the local community.

They have produced a wide range of blades used in everyday life, from tools for forestry, agriculture, and hunting to knives for the home.

From forging and shaping to heat treatment, grinding, and polishing, the entire process is carried out with care, while listening closely to the voices of those who use their tools. Each blade is forged with meticulous attention to detail.

The reliable skills passed down through generations, together with the instincts continually refined through hands-on work in the field, live on in Kurotori's blades.

They embody the strength and straightforward craftsmanship characteristic of Tosa's rural blacksmithing tradition.
