Tokuzo Knives is our original brand, created in collaboration with blacksmiths, sharpeners, handle makers, and manufacturers across Japan.

A knife is never completed by the hands of a single craftsman.

Depending on the steel, blade shape, and intended use, we carefully bring together the craftsmen best suited to each stage of the process:

• Forging — shaping and strengthening the foundation of the blade

• Sharpening — refining the edge and bringing out its cutting performance

• Handle Fitting — finishing the knife for a comfortable and natural feel in the hand

Each knife is carefully crafted, one by one, through the combined skills of these specialists.

At the heart of Tosa Forged Blades lies a tradition of rural blacksmithing that has always placed practical use above all else.

Respecting this tradition, Tokuzo focuses on creating knives that are practical, sturdy, and built for use, placing greater importance on ease of use and ease of work than on elaborate decoration.

We offer a wide range of knives designed not only to meet the cutting performance and durability demanded by professional chefs, but also to be comfortable and easy to use in the home, allowing our knives to become trusted tools for everyone from professionals to everyday home cooks.

In 2025, we established our own forging workshop, Ryugado Tokuzo Forging Workshop, in the Ryugado area of Kami City, Kochi Prefecture, one of the representative production areas of Tosa Forged Blades.

Having our own forging workshop has created new opportunities for deeper technical exchange with the craftsmen who support the Tokuzo brand, while also creating an environment in which the voices of those who use our knives can be reflected more quickly in our craftsmanship.

At the same time, we do not believe that everything needs to be completed in-house. Respecting the skills and individuality of craftsmen across Japan, and continuing to create together with them, is another important part of what Tokuzo stands for.

The people who use our knives, the purposes for which they are used, and the lives they become a part of are all quietly changing day by day.

That is why we believe a knife, too, should be a tool that grows with the person who uses it, becoming more familiar with their hand over time.
